 1)

Australia is a center of excellence for free radical polymerization, with a number of internationally recognized groups active in research.

 2)

Australian University groups are working closely with industry through Cooperative Research Centres, such as the Cooperative Research Center for Polymers.

 3)

Strong research in polymer engineering including micro – and nanocomposites and polymer blends.

 4)

Australia has strengths in many areas of polymer characterization including nuclear magnetic resonance, x-ray and neutron scattering, synchrotron science, electrical optical and magnetic functional properties of polymers and biological/biomedical property determination.

 5)

Australia has an emerging research strength in biomaterials
